The house at 439 Thomas Avenue in Forest Park has a unique history. And an agent from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago (BHHS Chicago) recently participated in its landmark purchase. April Baker of the Gillian Baker team represented the buyers who acquired the 3,600 square foot, four-bedroom home that sold for $830,000: a record for the area.

“I congratulate April on this very special sale,” John Lawrence, chief broker for BHHS Chicago’s Oak Park, River Forest and Elmhurst offices, said in a press release. He also explained Baker’s special connection to the property: She was an original developer at 439 Thomas Ave.

Construction began in 2018 and when the home hit the market in 2019, it was Forest Park’s most expensive single-family home – for the first time. It sold for $735,000. That same year, the development won a Forest Park Pride Award, which recognizes efforts made to beautify the village.

Following this honor, Baker outlined his intentions in the Forest Park Review. Wanting to restore the space to “its former glory”, Baker was also sure to add “all the bells and whistles that make life easy”.

And now the house has sold for another record sum. “I’m very proud of 439 Thomas,” Baker said in the press release. “The way it all came together – my intimate knowledge of the house … it was all meant to be,” she said.
