MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MARKS CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HISTORY

Going into the final group match against Al-Merrikh on Saturday at FNB Stadium, Kabo Yellow had already qualified for the quarter-finals.

Despite several changes to provide playing opportunities for the team’s players, second team Mamelodi Sundowns still outclassed the Sudanese 3-0.

The three points were sealed thanks to goals from George Maluleka, Surprise Ralani and Kermit Erasmus.

According to Super Sportsthis victory meant that Mamelodi Sundowns became the very first team to finish with 16 points in CAFCL history.

Meanwhile, CAF are yet to confirm the date to determine the quarter-final draw for the 2021/22 season.

In other news, Sundowns midfield general Andile Jali has broken his silence on his controversial omissions from the national team despite his still brilliant form.

Asked about the decision, coach Broos said he knows Jali quite well but was just looking for younger players and different playing attributes in his midfield.

“I know Jali very well because he played in Belgium. And it’s a choice I made from the start. And I still agree with myself with this choiceBroos said.

In a chat with Robert Marawa last week, the 31-year-old from Matatiele thinks Broos simply has a mysterious problem against him.
