A Tipping Point contestant has made history with a record-breaking counter-fall on the ITV game show. Appearing on the show on Monday night’s episode, Phil, who is from Cornwall, described his move as “amazing”.

Wales Online reports the electrician recorded a record fall in an episode of the quiz show which first aired in 2021. Host Ben Shephard revealed the story was made when Phil from Cornwall knocked down 22 counters in one go. The previous record was 21 counters.

Tipping Point viewers declared Monday’s episode of the quiz show “over” after the impressive first round. Among the Electrician’s first trick was the ‘x2’ counter, which doubled his win from £1,100 to £2,200.

In response to Phil describing the fall as “incredible”, Shephard said: “That’s one word for it, yes. Tipping Point’s previous record in the first round with the double was 21 counters. You just broke that record with 22 counters through the tipping point.”

Phil ended up beating fellow contestants Dishi, Nick and Beth to advance to the finals. He failed to win the £10,000 jackpot but was more than happy to win the £3,550 he had collected in the previous rounds.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
