OXBOW, ND – Ian Simonitch and Nate Deziel tied for medal honors to lead the way in men’s golf in North Dakota State as the Bison took the NDSU Fall Invitational Tournament victory after another record-breaking day at the Oxbow Country Club golf course.

Simonich, who started the day in second, shot his second straight round -3 of 69 to catch Deziel and join him at the top of the standings at the end of round two. With no playoffs, the duo tied for medal honors. Deziel had a second-round 74 after opening with an NDSU record 64 on Tuesday.

The Bison also captured the tag team title, as they edged away St. Thomas by 12 more shots on Day 2, finishing the event at -19. The Bison picked up a 31-hit win, which tied another NDSU record for the biggest win in program history. The victory matched a 31-stroke victory over three innings last season at the Stampede at the Creek, which was also on St. Thomas with scores of -19 and +12.

NDSU finished with a -3 round of 285 on a windy second day. Nate Adams (69) and Gavin Cronkite (73) wrapped up the score for the Bison on Day 2. Cronkhite finished fourth overall with a two-day total of 142 to finish at -2. Adams finished in a tie for fifth overall.

Brock Winterwho played individually, tied Simonich and Adams with the fastest lap of the course on Wednesday with his score of -3 of 69. Winter moved up three spots in the standings to finish third overall at -4 for the event.

North Dakota State will be back in action with its third tournament in just over a week on Monday and Tuesday, as the Bison travel to Manhattan, Kansas for the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf.
